DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Functions and tasks: To preserve all the zoological collection for studying on the fauna and zoological resources of Vietnam, which currently include 2.857 bird specimens, 2.840 mammal specimens, 5.346 reptile and amphibian specimens, 17.600 insect specimens and a large parasite collection. To collect and conduct taxidermy on specimens. To organize museum ornamentation and exhibition for scientific research and public education. To compile and publish information on Viet Nam's fauna.
Activities: The Department implemented and participated in many different projects from 1996 up to present, and is building the Database program for management of all specimens in the Museum.
Cooperation: To organize zoological museum service in international co-operation with zoological museum St. petersburg (Russia), AMNH, New York (USA), Zoological Museum Ontario (Canada), NHM Leiden (Netherland)...
